Liposuction is a fat-reduction technique during which excess fat is removed from very specific areas of your body. It’s not a replacement for weight loss with diet and exercise, but it is a strategy that can help slim down stubborn areas.

To perform the procedure, a hollow metal tool, called a cannula, is placed in the fat layers underneath the skin. A high-pressure vacuum attached to the cannula draws the fat away.
